Step 5

We build primary and secondary schools to give orphans and young people a good education.

In order to enable our often traumatized (orphan) children to attend a good school in a protected environment, we have built our own schools for up to 1000 children. The Yakini Primary School goes up to 7th grade, the Yakini Secondary School goes up to high school maturity after the 11th grade.

Yakini Primary School
The Yakini Primary School offers a high-quality school place for up to 700 children. It  not only enables the children from our Living Water Orphanage to receive a good education but also children from the vicinity of the school. The children from our Canaan orphanage and educational programs also go to Yakini Primary School. In addition, thanks to the contribution of paying students, it is a reliable source of income for the sustainable financing of the Living Water orphanage.

Yakini Secondary School
The school was built on a site acquired by “Partnership for Africa” right next to the Yakini Primary School.

The school which can accommodate about 300 children consists of 12 classrooms, 3 laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology, a PC laboratory, a library, an administration building, and a canteen with kitchen and toilet facilities. We have also been able to invest in cost-saving infrastructure, such as water tanks, water tankers or solar systems.

St. Theresa Pre-School

Preliminary work on the construction of a new pre-school will begin in January 2026. The actual construction work will start in June/July 2026. The aim of the inclusive pre-school is to prepare children from disadvantaged backgrounds for school, i.e. to familiarise them with teachers, materials and procedures and to socialise them in groups with other children.
