Step 7

We stabilize the remaining relatives – mostly HIV-infected mothers in poverty and without a job – by helping them help themselves in order to maintain the social linkages with the children.

Step 8

We accompany orphans and adolescents and teach them important “life skills” that they did not learn from their parents.

Step 9

We offer training courses to pave the way for young adults (orphans) to become professional or self-employed.

  • Seminars, mentoring
  • internships, career counselling
  • promotion of small self-employment

The path from graduation to real independence is often the most difficult step. We help the young people take the right path through preparatory seminars, internships, career guidance – sometimes with the help of mentors. If the job search is unsuccessful, we help to establish (small) self-employment.

In this way, we create an interface between school, training and professional work and close a gap that often prevents young people from having a truly independent livelihood.

Our most important goal is to look after children in need from A to Z until they can earn a living independently and stand on their own two feet. Not every child can become a doctor, but everyone can do an activity that corresponds to his/her abilities.

In special cases, our alumni or other supervisors also operate as mentors who accompany the young people during the time of difficult decisions and upheavals.
